Hugo is a character from Capcom's Final Fight series and Street Fighter series. He was originally a minor enemy in the first Final Fight, and became a playable character in Street Fighter III. He is based on the late professional wrestling legend Andre the Giant, as hinted by his last name Andore. His long time friend and manager Poison is usally with him.
Biography[]
Hugo was a member of the Mad Gear syndicate, but after its collapse, he turned towards the squared circle and used his massive size and power to become a pro wrestler. Since then he has used his unparalleled strength and wrestling techniques to annihilate a great number of opponents.
Appearance[]
Standing at just under 8 feet, Hugo is currently the tallest character in Street Fighter history. Hugo traditionally wears a pink leopard skin tank-top with darker pink jeans, brown boots, and black studded wristbands. He wears a thick chain from the back of his waist, to 3/4 of the way around his waist, ending at his hip. He has long, messy black hair, that bounces and moves around as he moves and attacks. Hugo's face is considerably odd. His eyes are normally obscured by shadow during battle, but during certain animations, they become visible, revealing that he has no pupils, though he clearly has pupils in his character portrait.
Personality[]
Hugo is a very arrogent man because of his size, believing no one can come close to his strength. He gives very little reguard to rules or authority, stepping on anyone in his way.
Story[]
Background[]
Hugo Andore is a giant man raised on a farm in Germany. He crossed over to North America when he was 20 years old, and became a member of the Mad Gear gang.
Final Fight[]
Hugo and several members of his family were prominent members of Mad Gear, although Cody and Mike Haggar beat the elder members in a cage match in the West Side, which infuriated the wrestler to no end. Hugo attempted to give a televised broadcast to Haggar challenging him for the mayor-ship through a wrestling match, but unfortunately the broadcast was never aired.
The Andore continued to join Metro City's most prominent gangs for years to come; including a revived, worldwide Mad Gear and their successor the Skull Cross. Haggar and his friends crushed each of these syndicates and Hugo's hopes of glory.
Ultra Street Fighter IV[]
His role in the game is currently unkwnown.
Street Fighter III[]
Deciding that the criminal lifestyle was not for him, Hugo entered the third World Warrior tournament, accompanied by his former Mad Gear member, Poison. His goal was to find a suitable tag team partner, due to his former one being mysteriously killed off by a rival. During the tournament, Hugo met Ryu, and in that battle, Ryu used the ’’Shin Shoryuken’’ to knock out Hugo.
Hugo and Poison decided to start their own wrestling promotion called the Huge/Hyu Wrestling Army (HWA). Their main objective is to take over all of pro wrestling.
Gameplay[]
- "Of course I won. Why would I lose?"
- —Hugo
Hugo play similar to how he was in SFIII. Being on the slow side, he makes up for it by his sheer size and power to control space. He has decent normals and pretty good ranges on his throws. Overall Hugo can take and dish out huge amounts of damage.
